Intel announce the 10th generation core

Intel has launched the 10th generation desktop CPU lineup based on the 14nm comet lake architecture. Which range from a new flagship core i9 for gamers and enthusiastis to the mainstream core i7, i5 and i3 families, and the even some entry-level pentiums, and celeron options. This refresh comes as a minor update of the 9th general coffel lake series Intel continues to refresh and refine it's 14nm manufacturing process, but does not introduce a brand new architecture.

Launched by Intel's new core i7-10700k with eight cores and 16 threads, these benefit from turbo boost Max 3.0 but not thermal velocity boost. The core i5 family gets six cores and 12 threads without turbo boost Max 3.0. Each has unlocked mainstream 65W versions as well as 125W. And all 65W TDPs.

It's main attraction is the new top-end core i9-10900k model which has 10 cores with hyper-threading. It has a base speed of 3.7GHz and a boost speed of 4.8GHz across all cores or 5.3GHz for one core. The highest speeds are achieved using intel's turbo boost Max 3.0, previously seen only in the core X-series models and thermal velocity boosts, rated at 125W the model is fully overclockable. Intel's recommended price is 36,630/$488.

A non-unlocked model, the 65W core i9-10900 has a  base and boosts speeds of 2.8GHz and 5.2GHz respectioely. And core i9-10900k is billing as the world's fastest gaming processor. Compared to the core i9-9900k, Intel performs up to 33% better framerates and 18% faster video encoding in a typical game, up by 81% and 35% respectively, compared to the three-year old core 7-7700k.

Intel has also launched new  dual-core, four-thread pentium gold G6600, G6500 and G6400, and dual-core celeron G5920 and G5900 without hyper-threading. So RAM is supported for core i9 and i7 models up to DDR4-2933, everything below is the maximum on DDR4-2666. Intel has also rolled out its existing UHD graphics 630 and 610 integrated GPUs.

Overs benefit from new overclocking controls including hyper-threading and more detailed voltage frequency curve adjustment. Which makes cooling more effective. The CPUs use the new LGA1200 socket interface, with Intel releasing the Z490, H470, B460 and H410 platform controllers for motherboard manufacturers, and an all-new lineup to be announced soon. LGA1200 can use coolers designed for previous LGA11xx sockets.

Recently launched the 10th generation comet lake series for high-end and gaming laptops, while mainstream slim laptops labeled as 10th generation have 14nm comet lake or the new 10nm ice lake architecture.
