On 17 June, indian intelligence agencies allegedly asked the indian government Narendra Modi to block or issue advisories against the use of 52 mobile applications that are linked to china. Officials were quoted as saying that agencies are concerned that these apps extract huge amounts of data from Indian users.
There is no official word yet on whether the government will take action on it or not, but this decision can be a tricky one as this list includes some apps that are wildly popular and often used in india. Some of these applications, such as tik tok , SHAREIT, Likee, Hello and etc.

Already due to tensions at the borders, india has started harming active Chinese companies. On june 17 Chinese smartphone brand oppo canceled the launch of a device in india.

The list of apps include two file-sharing tools, SHAREIT and Xender. In January 2019, SHAREIT become the third most downloaded app in india after whatsapp and Facebook. The lenovo-owned app has over 400M users in India, of which 200M are MAUs.
Indian people have used about half a dozem Chinese video-sharing apps over the years. The most popular of which is tik tok, which has more than 120M monthly active users or MAUs. Other popular Chinese video-sharing apps included Helo, which has more than 50M MAUs in India, and Bigo live with over 22M MAUs in the country.
